ConservationFIT is currently focusing on algorithms for cheetah, jaguar, snow leopard and puma
Why did we choose these species? Firstly, they’re all in decline and at-risk from both human:wildlife conflict and habitat destruction. Secondly, they occupy habitats where tracks are ubiquitous – and seen much more often than the animals themselves. Finally, by working with the field projects and the AZA Species Survival Plans (SSP) for cheetah, jaguar, snow leopard and puma we hope to be able to quickly collect footprints we need to build and validate the field monitoring algorithms.
