WildTrack reaches finals of the AUVSI XCELLENCE Awards!

For the last few years, WildTrack has been experimenting with drones to help locate endangered species footprints where they are hard to locate or reach. Drones make it much easier to find footprints. The challenge is in getting sufficient resolution, in characterising trails to identify at species level … and also in finding drones that are robust for tough field conditions. Of course there’s also the challenge of how to manage the vast quantity of data that comes back.
We’ve made great progress because we have great partners helping us. senseFly’s eBeeX drone has captured incredible images for us. JMP continues to lead the field in data visualisation for our analyses. The Army Research Office works with us on wildlife security, and new partners at UC Berkeley are doing pioneering AI research to make our image management and classification more streamlined.
A few months ago, we were nominated by senseFly for the Association for Unmanned Vehicles Systems International (AUVSI)
Excellent Awards in the Humanitarian category. Now we’ve just discovered that we have been listed as Finalists in that
category and are invited to Dallas, TX, in October for the final event of this industry-leading event!
